One of my favorite things to do as a business owner is retreats. For this introvert/extrovert combo it’s pretty surprising to even hear it come out of my mouth BUT there is something so powerful about watching grown women walk-in with fears, insecurities and hesitation; then leave with a new found confidence, tribe and sense of purpose. Bullet PROOF. Bullet proof to step into the life they were always meant to live regardless of what they might be telling themselves OR what others are telling them.
This year I opted to lock arms with two other leaders and seriously it could not have gone smoother. Each of us came to the table with different skills and it created this incredible balance. Hello collaboration!
We decided to rent a killer house with a private beach in the Bahamas, an infinity pool a view for DAYS. Let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint. The water, the beach … the week was PERFECT.
We spent one glorious week together of learning, sharing, collaborating, breaking bread, cooking and bonding. Each lady had to earn her spot making it that much more special to spend time together.
I absolutely love everything about events. From coming up with a theme, to content, to gifts and activities. All of it is pure JOY. Add a flawless collaboration and you’ve got a recipe for magic. So our team's annual leadership retreat is actually a lot of fun for me!
For the last two years, my team was smaller and I wanted to do something very low key so I rented a beauitful beach house on the Oregon Coast and we sent our fears out to sea, attached our fears to floating lanterns, had an all out powder fight on the beach and had group training sessions with the ocean as our backdrop. We also did a cozy winter retreat in Wisconsin. Think hot chocolate, flannel, crackling fire place and snowflakes. We even had smoke sticks for photos and the giggles are engrained in my memory FOREVER.
This year, I wanted to up the ante and take it to an entirely NEW level. Since this retreat was tougher to qualify for than the previous one, I wanted it to be super special and make each lady realize her worth! So “Salty Mermaids" was the theme and we couldn’t wait to spoil our leaders and breathe life into them!
We held our meetings in the pool or the ocean, had meals catered and prepared for us, and fancy photoshoots so the girls could get new headshots. We had a few planned training sessions but our time was much more about vision and sisterhood. We shared stories, we washed our limiting beliefs and fears out to sea, set goals and action plans and bonded. It was an amazing weekend!
Right not I'm beginning to plan for our team's 2018 retreat so I'm feeling a little nostalgic. Not sure how I'll top this one but I've got a few ideas in mind! If you've been on the fence about starting YOUR OWN biz, you should jump in with us now so you have time to earn your way onto the next retreat. Not convinced yet, watch this for a little more inspiration! Have questions about hosting your OWN leadership retreat? Pop them below and I will gladly share!
